KATJANA VADEBONCOEUR is a Seattle based director, event producer and arts instructor. She graduated Summa Cum Laude as a Regents Scholar from the University of California at Irvine with a BA degree in Drama, and is currently on the Theater Faculty at Cornish College of the Arts. She has taught performance studies and theater arts at the University of Washington, The Northwest School, Pierce Community College, Eastside Preparatory School and was a longstanding resident teaching artist and staff member at Seattle Shakespeare Company. Her directing work has been lauded in the Stranger, Seattle Weekly and Seattle Times, where she was awarded a Seattle Times Footlight Award for Best Off Broadway Production in 2006. Katjana was honored as the featured theatre artist in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s Spring Arts Guide in 2008, and in 2010 she was nominated Best Local Director by BroadwayWorld.com for her direction of reasons to be pretty at ArtsWest. She was the recipient of a 4Culture Individual Artist Grant to direct and produce the Seattle Premiere of The Beebo Brinker Chronicles, which led to the creation of a six month long Retro Lesbian Pulp Festival in Seattle, and a run of sold out shows at ACT’s Central Heating Lab.
Katjana served as Co-Artistic Director of Washington Ensemble Theatre for four seasons (2007-2010) providing artistic leadership for this nationally recognized, innovative ensemble theater, and also acted as Resident Director and PR/Marketing Manager. She is an Associate Member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, and spent a decade as a company member with Living Voices as a nationally touring teaching artist, educating youth and performing five solo shows and about history and tolerance. Originally hailing from California, Katjana was the director of National Touring Programs at California Theater Center before moving to the Northwest to make Seattle her home in 2002. In addition to teaching and directing she is also a Cabaret and Burlesque producer/emcee, and currently teaches the nation's only academic performance course in "Neo-Burlesque Theory and Performance" at Cornish College of the Arts. Katjana is also founder and co-owner of Revel Rouser Events, an event planning company that specializes in immersive event design, non-profit & corporate galas and auctions, and the best of live performance. |
